ISO9001: 2015

 

The new 2015 standard has a number of differences, as summarised below:

Process Approach: The new standard promotes the process approach in a more robust manner.

Risk based thinking: Risk based thinking replaces the preventative action processes in the new standard

Quality Management Principles: There are now seven quality management principles

New clauses:  The following new clauses have been added to the standard:

4.1 Understanding the organization and its context

4.2 Understanding the needs and expectations of interested parties.

Exclusions: The new standard does not refer to exclusions that were included in the 2008 version.

Terminology / process changes:

The term "product" was used to include services; now "Products and Services" is used.

The term "Work environment" has been replaced with "Environment for the operation of processes"

The term "purchased product" has been replaced with "externally provided products and services ".

The term "supplier" has been replaced with "External provider".

The term "documents" and "records" is now "documented information"

The term “documented procedures” is replaced with a requirement to maintain documented information

The term “Records” is now a retain documented information
