New Zealand Army - LFNEC

Land Focussed Network Enabled Capability Project Manager
Currently the Army Intranet is not widely used and does not leverage the potential benefits of automating or digitising a number of existing processes. It is generally not used as an electronic data storage system, and there is little common structure to information creation, cataloguing, filing, archiving or retrieval.
Project Aristotle is the redevelopment of the NZ Army wide intranet; as such it is a major component of the Land Focussed Network Enabled Capability (LFNEC) strategy and a main enabler of several NZDF strategic aims.
The NZDF strategic objectives include the following aims:
• We will grow Information Management capabilities to support the Knowledge Edge Force.
• We will improve the ability of technology to support effective management of the NZDF.
In order to achieve these aims within the NZ Army, the strategy for LFNEC was derived.
The LFNEC Strategy states that:
“Effective information management is a key enabler of everything we do within NZ Army. The LFNEC Programme seeks to support the NZDF Network Enabled Capability (NEC) Strategy and recognises that effective information management is the key to NEC. The LFNEC Programme supports PBL, Enhanced Management and High Performing Organisation objectives”
Project Aristotle’s overall aim is to improve Information Management (IM) across the NZ Army; the primary enabler of this is a new intranet, as both the mechanism and portal for management and distribution of information.
The plan is to utilise the new SharePoint v3 software being delivered by the NZDF IMX Programme as the technological solution. Agile development will be the methodology employed in the development of the new intranet (see section xx for more details).
Planning, design, creation, development and launch of a pilot intranet in SharePoint v3 technology. Creating high level strategies, governance plans, information architecture and site schema for the Army wide intranet, including all aspects of requirements.
