The Gantt chart is vital. However, many team members, and occasionally Customers, are not familiar with its use or can understand it.  Also, often they do not have the software available.

As a project manager, it may be necessary to modify the views, provide training and export to other formats to ensure complete understanding across the team and Stakeholders.

2 useful formats are:

• Calendar View in MS Project exported to pdf

• PowerPoint slides with illustrated parts of the Gantt (using the copy picture tool) with added explanatory text, images, and etc.
